Dancing with the Stars: Season Eight premiere
Yes, it’s back once again with yet another rocking season to make all of you dance along with the contestants. ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ premiered with its eighth season on March 9th, 2009. To kick start the season a two hour premiere was prepared for the audience.
But before the season actually started, the show was already in news because two of the contestants, Jewel and Nancy O’Dell, got injured while practicing and now will not be able to perform. I kept wondering who now would replace them at the end moment. Finally it was revealed that it was Holly Madison, the star from The Girls Next Door and Dmitry Chapman, who replaced the injured couple.
The season opened with a smashing welcome to the contestant on the show, followed by a performance by the contestants. This years contestants list consist of Lil Kim & Derek Hough, Belinda Carlile & Jonathan Roberts, Lawrence Taylor& Edyta Sliwinska, Steve-O & Lacey Schwimmer, Gilles Marini & Cheryl Burke, Chuck Wicks & Julianne Hough, Holly Madison & Dmitry Chapman, Ty Murray & Chelsie Hightower, Shawn Johnson & Mark Ballas, Steve Wozniak & Karina Smirnoff, David Alan Grier& Kym Johnson, Denise Richards & Maksim Chmerkovskiy and in the last Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani.
All the contestants then had to give their first performance on stage, though none of the contestants were to be eliminated this week, as this was the introductory performance. The second episode of the eighth season was aired on 16 March 2009; once again the contestants had to perform, but this time they had to be more careful as eliminations were going to take place. After the contestants had given their performance, their scores from both the performances were combined together after which the contestant with least scores had to leave the show. The first couple which got eliminated from the show was Belinda Carlile & Jonathan Roberts.
