Dancing is something that we all love, but still it is not everyone’s cup of tea. But it is all the more fun, at-least for the viewers when a celebrity and a professional dancer pair up together and perform in-front of the live audiences.
You guessed it right folks, we are talking about ‘Dancing with the Stars‘, a reality series that first started airing on American television, but soon it became so popular that a number of other countries followed the same pattern. In the reality series, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ famous celebrities are paired up with a professional ballroom dance partners. They are given time to choreograph and practice before they together perform in front of live audiences and a panel of judges. In the beginning of the contest, the pairs who are going to be together for the rest of the competition are introduced to the audiences. Basically, it is the professional dancer who is responsible for teaching the other partner different forms of dances that they are required to perform as a challenge while the competition is on.
After a lot of practice, they perform in front of a panel of judges and live audiences. The panel of judges consists of Len Goodman who is the head judge on the show, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli. Then we have Goodman and Tonioli going back and forth weekly between Hollywood and London to judge both the American and British versions of the show.

Every week one of the teams, that gets least amount of vote and is unable to perform to the satisfaction of the judges is asked to leave the show. The competition goes on for weeks until one pair emerges as the winner of the show. All the contestants who once enter the show, no matter how far they reach get a $200,000 per season. Apart from that, the winner gets a bonus of $100, 00, and the second- and third-place finishers get smaller bonuses.
‘Dancing with the Stars’ premiered on June 1, 2005. Today the series is into its eighth season and still manages to generate the same amount of craze; in-fact the number of audiences has increased over the years. The series airs on ABC. The show is hosted by famous TV personality Tom Bergeron, and E! reporter Samantha Harris.
Over the years the show has been so successful that a number of the other countries, like UK, Australia and even India have followed the same pattern of the show and it has been successful everywhere.
